You will receive an email from HireRight that contains detailed instructions for completing the Form I-9.

The Form I-9 is a federal requirement of employment and is used to verify identity and work authorization in the United States.

All employees must complete this form within three days of beginning work. Failure to do so will result in a stop work order and all work must cease until the form is completed.

Spring I-9 Sessions on Campus

Human Resources will be on campus to complete I-9s for new faculty, staff, and student employees in February and March. Check out the calendar for locations and times.

All employees must complete Section 1 of the Form I-9 no later than their first day of employment.

All employees must complete Section 2 of the Form I-9 no later than their third day of employment.

You will receive an email invitation from HireRight that includes a link to complete Section 1. If you do not receive this email, you may also stop by the Human Resources office to complete the form.

Section 1 involves entering your personal information, such as legal name, date of birth, and address.

To complete Section 2, employees must present their original, unexpired documentation to an authorized representative of Middlebury College. The authorized representative will take a scan of the documentation and will complete Section 2.

If it has been more than three years since your last I-9 was completed and there has been a break in employment, you are required to complete a new I-9.

1. You must enter a US address in Section 1, and it cannot be a PO Box.
