Volunteers Around the World (VAW)
VAW is trying to start an official chapter at Middlebury College. To do so, we are looking for enthusiastic students wanting to obtain a wonderful 2-week medical outreach experience abroad. YOU DO NOT HAVE TO BE PRE-MED, ANY STUDENT IS WELCOME! If you are interested, please fill out the following form.
--------
VAW Medical Outreach provides volunteers with an opportunity to work first hand with local doctors. Volunteers will fundraise for medications and supplies prior to the trip abroad. While in country, volunteers will assist the doctors, perform triage, distribute medications, teach classes on hygiene, nutrition, and first aid. This is an intensive internship, valuable to future nurses, physicians and other healthcare providers as well as those interested in seeing what it is like to work in a developing country. The internship is focused on giving volunteers a variety of experiences in treating patients, deepening their understanding of the medical field and broadening their global view.
--------
VAW Mission: Our focus is to enhance community infrastructure through improved education, access to more advanced medical treatment, increased economic opportunities, and other community based initiatives.
The work of Volunteers Around the World is done by volunteers who donate their time, money and energies to the welfare of fellow human beings. It is through the efforts of these selfless individuals and working in conjunction with community members and leaders that the world will become a healthier and better place to live.
