Privilege & Poverty Academic Cluster Internships (local in Addison County and national through Shepherd Consortium)Center for Community EngagementJune-AugustA critical component of the Privilege & Poverty Academic Cluster curriculum is the opportunity to understand and address the dynamics of economic inequality through collaborative work with communities impacted by poverty. Students can participate in the National Privilege & Poverty Internship through the Shepherd Higher Education Consortium on Poverty, or locally through the Addison County Privilege & Poverty Internship. These experiences offer experiential learning through student cohorts that support and reinforce student learning goals. CCI Summer Cohort Internship Programs: diiVe and Team4TechCenter for Careers and InternshipsJune - AugustConflict Transformation funds are directed to two international cohort internship programs that emphasize conflict transformation as a critical part of the student experience. Team4Tech works to improve the quality of education in developing countries by connecting technology volunteers and solutions with high impact non-profit projects. A cohort of Middlebury students works with the nonprofit partner African SOUP in Uganda to help create and deliver digital literacy classes and women's health and vocational education programs. Conflict Transformation funds pay the student participation fee and students receive a $2000 travel grant from CCI. Apply via Handshake until March 11. diiVe offers fast-paced, intensive global consulting internships for students in Cape Town, South Africa and some remotely. Students engage in an immersive 7-week consulting internship program featuring a 2-week remote consulting bootcamp and a 5-week hands-on, project-based internship over the summer. diiVe works with a range of organizations from large, global firms to savvy, tech start ups and NGOs, while training students to excel in the world of work. The diiVe Conflict Transformation-funded cohort for Summer 2024 program is full. Note to interested students that because of it's extreme popularity, diiVe posts this opportunity in the fall and has an early December deadline. CCI Trek(s)Center for Careers and InternshipsMarch 17-22, 20242024 DC Career Acceleration Trek-Global Affairs and Mentoring - The Center for Careers and Internship is pleased to offer a fully funded Student Trek for 10-12 Rohatyn Global Scholars and Fellows to Washington D.C. over spring break from March 17-22, 2024. The objective is to provide a career exploration experience, visiting with a variety of employers and alumni whose work focuses on complex global challenges and to better understand and address conflict at individual, community, and global scales. The week-long trek will include mentorship provided by current MIIS graduate students, site visits with a number of employers in D.C. working on global issues, small group reflection dinners with alumni and other special guests, and a networking reception with many alumni in the D.C. area with careers that stretch into global affairs and ethical citizenship. Participants should anticipate exposure to the broad array of global challenges, and techniques that explore divisiveness in society with the employers meeting those challenges. Projects for PeaceThe Innovation HubIn 2008, Mrs. Davis chose to celebrate her centennial birthday by committing $1 million dollars to fund “100 Projects for Peace.” Undergraduate students at more than 90 college campuses across the United States, including Middlebury students, are eligible to design and submit proposals that serve local, domestic or global communities and address the goal of improving the prospects for peace in the 21st century. Middlebury Social Impact Corps (MSIC)The Innovation HubThe Middlebury Social Impact Corps program connects students to social change with unique global internship opportunities. A select cohort of Middlebury College and MIIS graduate students are chosen and matched with a social enterprise or NGO for an immersive learning experience. This experiential learning program focuses on six pillars: adaptability, commitment, inquiry, narrative, reflection, and partnership. In partnership with organizations, MSIC members gain knowledge, skills, and dispositions for purposeful careers in social impact.
