Art
For general information, see the Encyclopedia of Latin American and Carribbean Art (N6502 .E53 2000) or the Encyclopedia of Latin American History and Culture (online). For a broad overview, try Latin American Art: Ancient to Modern (N6502 .S367 1999). For more narrowly focused works, try subject headings like Art, Latin American, Folk Art -- Latin America, Mural painting and decoration. Books about art are classified with call numbers beginning with N, and are located on the Main Level of the library. Film
Browse our Spanish-language DVD collection, located on the Main Level of the library, across from the Research Desk. Books about film are located on the Lower Level, and begin with call numbers in the PNs. Latin American Films, 1932-1994: A Critical Filmography (Ref PN1995.9.L37 S38 1997) is a catalog of films. For a general introduction, see Magical Reels: A History of Cinema in Latin America (PN1993.5.L3 K45 2000).

Graphic Novels
Graphic novels are usually located in the Browsing section of the library's Main Level, just behind the DVDs. You may find graphic novels in Spanish grouped either with Spanish language browsing materials, or the Graphic Novel browsing collection. Scott McCloud's Understanding Comics (PN6710 .M335 1994) is a classic introduction to the art of comics and graphic novels (also available in Spanish).

Literature
For general information, try the Encyclopedia of Latin American and Caribbean Literature (PQ7081.A1 E558 2004) or the Reference tab of this guide, and for quick introductions, try Modern Latin American Literature. (PQ7081 .G6315 2012). For works by an individual author, search by the author's complete last name (including paternal and maternal names) in MIDCAT. Latin American literature is classified with call numbers beginning PQ in the Lower Level of the library.
