Co-Presidents
The Co-Presidents oversee all chapter programs, inspire a vision for the chapter and establish a productive and engaging chapter culture where all members are positioned to succeed. These are often senior students who
have been involved with GlobeMed for several years in other positions. They must both be on campus for both fall and spring semesters, but may be off-campus for JTerm.
Co-Directors of Campaigns
The Co-Directors of Campaigns oversee the chapter’s fundraising efforts. By organizing and overseeing a successful campaign, they make it possible for the chapter to have a tangible impact on the partner’s
community. Responsibilities include organizing events, turning in fundraising forms, and buying necessary supplies for the campaign (will get reimbursed by the school). All E-Board members work to to brainstorm
and organize campaigns, but the Co-Directors do the heavy-lifting and ensure that everything runs smoothly.
GlobalHealthU Coordinators
The GHU Coordinators present weekly on different global health issues, encouraging productive discussion. This position is demanding yet rewarding, since it requires speaking at every meeting and working closely
with the other GHU Coordinator.
Directors of Partnerships
This position involves working with both local partners in Vermont and our main partner organization, Conservation Heritage-Turambe. In the past, local partnerships have included the Charter House; the NOM (Nutrition and Outreach Mentoring) Club; HOPE food bank; and Vermont CARES. This position has a lot of variability week to week, so it can accommodate someone with another demanding sports, laboratory, or extracurricular schedule who still wants to actively contribute to GlobeMed.
Treasurer
The Treasurer controls the flow of money into and out of the chapter’s bank account and keeps everyone updated on fundraising progress. They are also in charge of cash boxes during campaigns. There are training events for this every year, so past experience is not required. However, due to the amount of cash we handle, we prefer that this be a full year position for someone who is ready to take on the responsibility that comes with coordinating financial donations to an international NGO.
Director of Communications
The Director of Communications works to establish a strong GlobeMed presence on campus and in your community in order to raise awareness about global health and social justice issues. GlobeMed at Middlebury runs Instagram and Facebook pages that we post in for campaigns. There is also the Classy fundraising site and Presence page that are important platforms. During fundraisers, this position works very closely with the
Directors of Campaigns to design posters and flyers for our events. This is easily achieved using the Canva website and poster printing help can always be found in the libraries. Photoshop skills not needed!
Director of Internal Development
The Director of Internal Development cultivates the “GlobeMed Community” within the chapter by providing members with opportunities for local involvement and social bonding. This may involve organizing trips to a local apple orchard, planning parties, and checking in with new members at meetings. This position works closely with the Treasurer and has a lot of room for creativity.
Recruitment Chair
This will be a new position for the Fall 2023 semester! The Recruitment Chair will work closely with the Partnerships team, Director of Communications, and Internal Development to ensure that GlobeMed is recruiting students on-campus for events, GHUs, and fundraising opportunities including but not limited to the student activities fair. The Recruitment Chair will also play a large role in member retention, and will be responsible for making sure Middlebury students are aware of GlobeMed and satisfied with club presence on campus.
