Green Dot Overview for Faculty and Staff
Wednesday, February 21st 11:00am-12:00pm
HWE Office, Ross ground floor
Overviews introduce Green Dot strategies for preventing violence across social spaces and contexts, professional and otherwise. Attending a session will enable faculty and staff to discuss Green Dot strategies with colleagues and students, to refer students to HWE for Green Dot training, and to represent Green Dot on campus with signage, stickers, or other Green Dot giveaways

 

HEALTHY RELATIONSHIPS ACTION WEEK (FEB 19 - FEB 23)

Healthy Relationships Action Week is a time to identify and celebrate the relationships that build us up. We love relationships that bring ease, safety, care, and enjoyment to our lives! This week we honor relationships of all kinds - friendly, romantic, community, and intimate. We are also celebrating healthy relationships between you and yourself! You can find events across campus that honor loving connections and relationship joy.

Be Our Valentine

SLEEP AWARENESS WEEK (FEB 26 - MAR 1)

While students may already be aware of sleep, this week highlights the importance of quality sleep, resources on campus to assist with sleep, and events meant to be relaxing and encouraging of sleep and rest.

The Office of Health and Wellness Education has compiled a week of passive and active events, and we encourage you to explore what interests you. There are opportunities for free 15-minute massages, giveaways, and connecting with campus resources including Health Services and Integrated Care.

Take some time for yourself to engage in restful yoga movements to encourage relaxation and stress relief with DeShan Foret from Integrated Care.

The Challenge is an online and in-person program that offers a wide range of quick, easy activities proven reduce stress, anxiety, and overwhelm & improve mental health and well-being. Participants receive a menu of activities in the weekly themes of: emotional well-being, physical well-being, meaning and purpose, and social well-being.

BODY ACCEPTANCE WEEK (MAR 25 - MAR 31)

This week is about fostering a more peaceful relationship with your body. There is so much in our world that reinforces ideas that we are not enough and changing our body is the answer. Check out these events to find more connection with your body in community with others.

What if the best diet, is to reject diet culture? Listen to an interview with Virgie Tovar, plus-size Latina, author, lecturer, and leading expert on weight-based discrimination and body positivity. Virgie talks about ways to feel more comfortable in your body and leave dieting behind. 

Body Acceptance Week - Draw, Paint or Collage Your Own Body Story

Our bodies are full of stories. Some come from our culture, our families, people around us and some from ourselves. Join this interactive workshop where you are invited to collage, draw or paint your own story about your body. Participants will leave with some ideas about how to have more peace in your body relationship. Pizza provided!

While it may not be possible to avoid unwanted reminders of sexual violence, it can be helpful to have some self-care strategies at hand. Practicing self care—which means taking proactive steps to feel physically and emotionally healthy and comfortable—can help survivors cope with the effects of trauma like sexual violence.

Wearing jeans on Denim Day is a symbol of protest against erroneous and destructive attitudes about sexual assault, inspired by an Italian supreme court decision to blame a survivor of sexual violence for harm committed due to wearing tight fitting jeans. We ask that members of our community wear denim to show their support for survivors and support the belief that no survivor is responsible for violence that happens to them.
