Purpose

The Knight-Hennessy Scholarship seeks to prepare leaders to address world challenges. Award provides high-achieving students who are independent thinkers, display purposeful leadership and have a civic orientation with full funding for graduate study at Stanford University.

Award

Supports graduate study at Stanford in any degree program, including JD, MA, MBA, MD, MFA, MS and PhD and dual-degree programs. Includes tuition, stipend, graduate program and related academic expenses for up to three years. Comparable support provided by scholars’ programs if time to degree exceeds duration of Knight-Hennessy award.

Number Offered

50 scholars to begin in 2018-19, 100 scholars thereafter.

Fields of Study

Open. Includes professional degree programs as well.

Eligibility

Seniors or recent alumni (must matriculate within five years of graduation). All citizenship types eligible.

Deadlines

September for Knight-Hennessy application; Fall deadlines for specific graduate programs.

Application Process

Candidates submit the Knight-Hennessy application and a separate application to the graduate program by the specified deadlines.

If applying as a senior, you will need an endorsement from the fellowships office. Alumni candidates do not need this.

Finalists will visit Stanford in January. Scholarship offers will be made in February.
