MiddCAM 2022-2023 Mentor Application
Thank you for your interest in our mentoring program! We are thrilled to have you apply and become involved as a mentor. Middlebury College Access Mentors works with students from Middlebury Union High School to support their college application process.

Once you have returned your completed application, MiddCAM will contact your references and your Dean. Please note that it is good practice to contact the people you plan to use as references, especially if you have not been in touch with them recently. In the meantime, a student coordinator will contact you to arrange an interview. This is an important step in the screening process, and it will help us match you with a mentee. You also will be required to complete a criminal background check, which may include fingerprinting at the Addison County Sheriff’s Department. We will be in touch with you about this process at a later date. Training for new mentors typically takes place in J-Term, and mentors and mentees meet for the first time in the beginning of the spring semester. Please feel free to reach out to Abbey (atinsley@middlebury.edu) or Zach (zmilton@middlebury.edu) via email with questions about the status of your application or with questions about the process, or if you would like a confidential conversation.

Reference #1: Your Dean's name and email. *
Reference #2: Name, email, relationship to you. (Our volunteer screening process consists of a criminal background check and two reference checks: one from your Dean and one personal reference. Please do not list relatives for your personal references. A reference could be a professor, advisor, mentor, or supervisor --- somebody who can speak to your ability to work with young people and follow through on commitments. Do not list friends/peers. ) *
Typically, we encourage mentors and mentees to meet (virtually or in-person) at least 2-4 times per month during the school year, and at least once a month over the summer. You will likely also have some additional work to complete outside of the sessions (ie. essay editing, college research etc). Does this time commitment seem feasible for you?
