Omeka

What is Omeka?

Omeka is a free, open source digital asset management system for online collections and exhibits. It was developed at the Roy Rosenzweig Center for History and New Media at George Mason University. Omeka adheres to international standards, such as the Dublin Core Schema for metadata, and allows scholars, librarians, archivists, and curators to create digital content collections, simple web pages, and complex online exhibits. 

Who uses Omeka?

Omeka is used in libraries, archives, historical societies, museums, and classrooms. It is lightweight and easy to use, but has powerful plug-ins and other tools and adheres to robust international standards, making it a great choice for introducing students to digital scholarship.
