We are advocating to allow students to take four classes pass/fail throughout their four years at Middlebury. This would allow students to explore subjects that they may otherwise not. In allowing students to take classes pass/fail, they would learn to think in a different way. Imagine a biochemistry major taking philosophy or a dance major taking economics. Many prestigious schools such as Yale, Amherst, and Swarthmore have already initiated pass/fail programs. In fact, Middlebury is the only school of its kind to not offer any classes pass/fail. We can change that. Imagine the possibilities.
