Hi!
We are working on a project for the WANAS Showcase on March 26th centered around queerness and Palestine. Specifically, we are looking to combat Israel's politics of homonationalism and pinkwashing, which are inherently islamophobic and dangerous.
As part of this project, we’re looking to collect stories and thoughts from Middlebury’s queer community–in particular queer Jews and Muslims–on the intersections of queer and Palestinian liberation. We’ve included some prompts below for inspiration, and feel free to write as little or as much as you’d like, and respond to what speaks to you.
For more information and resources: go/pinkwashing
Prompts:
- What are your thoughts on pinkwashing?
- Why is Palestinian liberation important to you as a queer person?
- How does your queerness inform your engagement and understanding of Palestinian liberation?
- How does your queerness intersect with other identities you may hold?
- What makes you feel safe in your queerness? Who makes you feel safe in your queerness?
Please reach out if you have any questions. Thank you! <3
