About

I am a scholar of long eighteenth-century British Atlantic literature and culture. My research explores the intertwined histories of quantitative thought, literary form, plantation slavery, and political economy. I tend to work on texts that represent slavery, labor, and agriculture—particularly in the British colonies of the Caribbean Basin.

I am an assistant professor in the Department of English and American Literatures at Middlebury College. In 2020, I received my Ph.D. in English from the State University of New York at Buffalo. During my time at Buffalo, my research was supported by Opler-Doubrava and College of Arts and Sciences dissertation fellowships, as well as a short-term fellowship from the American Society for Eighteenth-Century Studies (ASECS) and the Center for Seventeenth- and Eighteenth-Century Studies at UCLA.
