The Concerned Students of Middlebury stand strongly against the recent decision made by the governor of the state of Vermont to disinclude college students not originating from the state of Vermont in the COVID-19 vaccination process. As an issue both of equity and community health, the COVID-19 vaccine is one of the strongest solutions to curb the spread of a virus that has disproportionately impacted marginalized communities on a national and local scale. Exclusion of members of the broader community goes directly against that which will allow us to overcome this pandemic. We urge local officials to overturn this biased policy or to provide alternative avenues for students to be vaccinated.
